Active Search feature implementation – part1

A very basic active search feature has been implemented. It uses Microsoft Live (MSN) search web service to retrieve results from the Internet. At the moment this feature only looks for “meirou” query. It also doesn’t look very good…. but it’s only a start, it still needs some improvements. All the improvements – browsing by photo tags, description, title, comments and so on will be implemented in the next couple of days. Also the overall “look and feel” of the active search results will be improved.

.Net Framework 3.0 September CTP

Microsoft has released a new .Net Framework CTP build. You can check out www.netfx3.com for more information about the new build.

The .NET Framework 3.0 September CTP has just been released. Download it here for Windows XP and Windows Server 2003. The same version is included in the September CTP of Windows Vista (you cannot install the separate download package on Windows Vista).

The version of WCF included in this CTP drop of the .NET Framework 3.0 is scheduled to be the last prerelease version published before the product release. If you find any issues with this version, please send us feedback using the bug report form on the Connect site.

This means that meirou 0.2.0 (alpha release) will most probably require that build to run properly. So, stay tuned….

Starting of 9/26/2006 meirou is licensed under Microsoft Reference License (Ms-RL). This means that the source code is provided only for reference purposes only.

A little about Croatia

Croatia is a small country (something like 4 million people only) located on the coast of the Adriatic Sea, right next to Italy. It was part of Yugoslavia, till 1991, when Yugoslavia became former Yugoslavia :) In 1991 Yugoslavia was split into the following countries: Slovenia, Croatia, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Federal Republic of Serbia and Montenegro (a few months ago this coutry split into two countries – Serbia and Montenegro) and Macedonia. This means that the former yougoslav repubic was split in 6 countries now….

The location of criatia is shown on the map below…..

meirou Active Search

As you might have noticed, on the right side of the meirou main window, there will be an active search feature…. It will show search results related to the information about the image you are currently viewing… The search will be done by using photos’ tags and description.

I have been checking out Yahoo!, Goolge, MSN search engines and the corresponding APIS and have decided to implement this feature using MSN Search (Live Search).

The feature should be implemtented very soon,…. in a week, or two, at most.

meirou 0.1.4

meirou 0.1.4 build is now available for download. It includes some user interface improvements, such as better user information readability, left menu buttons removed and replaced with WPF textblocks. This build also has some new features implemetnted – browsing your photosets and displaying a list of tags. In the next release, by clicking on a tab you will be able to see all your photos bound to that tag.

I hope you like the new User Interface design,… You can use the meirou project page at codeplex to ask questions, leave suggestions or comments in the forum.
